The History of Pegasus Farms (continued)
II also used to attend the Quarterama (devoted to the Quarter Horse breed) every year to see either the barrel racing classes or the open reining classes done to music and where some of the riders even dressed up. Lots of halter classes too to see and get ideas for my model ones. Unfortunately the show fell upon hard times and it is no longer in existence here. Our local horse show in Aurora arrived every June and with it I was in my glory at taking pictures of the Clydesdales, Percherons and Belgians on the Saturday then on the Sunday to get pictures of the Welsh Ponies and the Miniature Horses. At one time I even entered my pictures in the ladies section and my model of the Budweiser clydesdale team (see first page). I was shocked beyond belief when we went up there after supper when the judging was over and saw that not only had I won my class but was the overall champ in that division (by beating out the winners of 4 other classes to win that rosette). I was so emotional I ran out of the building crying. Mom and Dad wondered why and when I blurted out why they went back inside with me to see it. I was half expecting not to win as the length of the model was a bit over the recommended size or so I thought. I wrote that even if I didn't win I entered it for show only. Unfortunately that division of it was done away with. However I still continued to go there every year to see the Draft horses, the welshies and the minis. I took lots of pictures when there and due to it I was approached by one of the judges of the Welsh show to become a board member and so when they were looking for new members I signed on. I was even made the fair's photographer and attended all the meetings along with our annual dinner. I also sold my plastic canvas crafts at it along with doing a display on the draft horses and brought my models to represent them in the Percheron, the Belgian and the Clyde foal along with printing up buttons, bookmarks as freebies along with horse calendars. Unfortunately due to money problems and no new members wanting to enlist it too was cancelled. I still miss it very much. The only horse show that I now attend is the Royal Winter Fair held in November as there is the spirit of the horse exhibition and almost every horse dealer is selling Breyer models. It is then I try to get the ones that I never got around to getting. When we got a computer and went online (first off through the phone and 3web I was astounded at how much horse information there was online!!!) .When I discovered the world renowned E-bay site I was hooked and began buying horse models galore off it. When our cable company announced they had a sale on the hi -speed lite we signed up for it. Gone were the days when my parents would holler at me to get off the internet as they either wanted to use the phone or they were expecting somebody to call them back or missing out on that particular horse on E-bay. I joined an online group called Fallen Leaves along with the IPABRA, the Toy Horse Haven and the Cdn Model horse group. I also discovered the addicting Peter Stone Models and am forever getting any that catch my eyes. I also have switched from my 35 mm to that of digital camera and due to my compaq going bye- bye on me I ended up having to replace it with a cicero one. I have been to several live shows and although I have won many a nan card and lots of flat ribbons I am still hoping to garner some rosettes in winning a champ or a reserve champ with one of my gang. I even had advertised my listings online until they pulled the plug on them. It is just recently that a Laurel Dede emailed me in going with this site. If wanting to use one of my horses as parents please ignore the fees if going the online route as they are free. However I will still need the following info for my records: name of foal, name of other parent, its breed, sex, age (if any), color, mold/make and a 3 gen. pedigree. If both parents are mine just list their names. I will then do the certificate and post it online for you to print it off. Once you have done so just email me so I can remove it. Thanks for looking. |
